Class 14

Welcome to Class 14!

We are an enthusiastic and keen class of lively children, who want to do our very best every day. Our class teacher is Mrs Stenton and we also have help from Mrs Fox, Miss Rolinson, Mr Binney, Mrs Grant and Mrs Hobson.

This photo was taken on our first day together in September and it was taken after we did some chatting about what kind of learners we want to be. We really impressed Mrs Stenton with our mature ideas about being creative, resilient, independent learners. Take a look on the leaves in the picture for our other ideas. It is going to be a super year!

I am always happy to chat about your children! The best time to talk is after school (Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays are best for me as I have meetings or after school clubs on the other days). For quick messages, please do grab me at the beginning of school. Alternatively do email the office or our year group email THPYear4@NCLT.ac.uk

Many thanks

Mrs Stenton

P.E.

Please bring your PE kit at the beginning of the week and we will send it home for washing at the end of the week. Our PE days are normally Tuesday and then alternate Mondays and Wednesdays but this may change from week to week. Your PE kit should include black shorts and a collarless white t-shirt, together with a tracksuit and trainers or pumps. If you have long hair then please make sure you bring a band and also bring tape to cover any stud earrings.

Wellies

Wellie are now part of our school uniform, for use when we learn outside. Please make sure you have your wellies in school every day, in a plastic bag. The tracksuit bottoms or leggings from your PE kit will be also be used to cover any bare legs when we work in the woodland.

Homework

We will set maths homework on a Friday which will be due in on the following Friday.

In addition we will set weekly spelling which will be tested the following week. These will be stuck into the home-school journal.

Reading

We love reading in Class 14! In class we will normally read in a group with Mrs Stenton once a fortnight. We will also do lots of independent reading tasks and whole class reading tasks. Please have a reading book in your drawer all the time as we often have independent reading opportunities during the day. You can borrow Reading Spine books (if you have signed the home school agreements) and also books from the reading shelves in the classroom. You’re free to change your book any time. Look out for Mrs Stenton’s recommentations and maybe you would like to make recommendations yourselves!

In Class 14 we know that reading at home makes all the difference in the world to our learning. Please do read as much as possible and at least three times a week. Please bring in your home-school journal to school every day with a record of any home reading. We work towards a reading reward at the end of each half term, gaining one point for evey time we read three times a week and two points for reading more than this in any week. Watch this space to hear about our super rewards!

Jacket or coat

Please remember to bring a jacket or coat to school as we go out for our daily mile and some outdoor learning whatever the weather.
