Welcome to Class 5
Miss Hawke is the class teacher and our teaching assistant is Miss Ayub. Mrs Grant also works with us in class 5 on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.
In Class 5 you will need to bring your book bag every day please.
We have brand new class journals where you can find lots of useful information on ways that you can support your child at home. In these journals there is space for you to fill in when you have read at home and teaching staff will also write comments. The journals and any reading books need to be in book bags every day so we can track who has read each week. Please remember to try and fill in the reading section of your child’s journal at least three times over the week so we can update our class ‘reading at home’ sheet. At the end of the half term there are ‘rewards’ for those who have read each week.
We have maths homework which will be sent home fortnightly and will come home on a Friday and this needs to be sent in by the date at the top of the sheet please.
Spellings will need to be practised each week (on a separate piece of paper or whiteboard at home) and will be sent home in the new class journal each Friday. Please ensure class journals are in book bags every day.
We do PE on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please make sure that your child’s PE kit is labelled and in school each week. Please tape any earrings up or send micro pore tape in for your child to put on their own ears. A plain white T-shirt, black shorts, pumps/trainers and a tracksuit are the required uniform for school.
Thank you
Miss Hawke xx

Year 1 Reading Spine
In Year 1 we have the most amazing reading spine for children to borrow from our class. We will send these books home fortnightly with the children to encourage and develop their love and engagement of reading. Please take the time to share them as a family and read them together. There is a range of different texts types for you to enjoy.
Happy reading!!!
