Class 12

Welcome to Class 12!

Our Class teachers are Mrs Foxton and Mrs Shaw. Other adults working with us in class are Mrs Morgan, Mrs Briddock, Miss Scott and Mrs Quibell.

We are a happy and enthusiastic class with lots of smiles and laughter. Our attitude to school and learning is OUTSTANDING! We love learning and try our very best every day so that we can be the ‘Best school in Rotherham and Indeed the World’!

A little side note…. Our door is always open so please don’t hesitate to pop in and see me. I can be contacted via the main school office, before or after the school day or using our year group email.

Any questions please email: THPYear3@NCLT.ac.uk  THPYear4@NCLT.ac.uk

P.E.

Class 12 do PE on a Monday and Wednesday.

Please make sure you have your correct PE kit,
white t-shirt, black shorts, black pumps
a tracksuit top and jogging bottoms can be worn for outdoor PE.

Children with long hair should make sure they have their hair tied up or a spare bobble provided. Earrings should be taken out or covered with micropore tape.

Homework

Homework will be set on a Friday to be handed in on the following Friday. One week the homework will be English based and the other will be maths based. It is important that your child completes homework as homework is a way to reinforce learning that has been done in class.

Reading

In Class 12, we are all working hard to achieve our Reading Reward. To do this, we need to read at home as much as poosible to get lots of Starbucks Reading tokens. To help your child earn their reading tokens, record this when you read with them at home. Please ensure that they read at least 3 times a week but remember…the more the better! Reading will be checked every Monday but school planners should be in school every day.

Spelling

Every Friday spellings are collected, tested and a new set will be sent home.  You will find these in our school planners. It is very important that spellings are practised and transferred into writing.

What we’re reading

The Scarecrow’s Dance

In English, we’ve kicked our learning off with our whole school creativity project. We are reading a book called ‘The Scarecrow’s Dance’ by Jane Yolen. We have really enjoyed reading this and the illustrations in the book are beautiful. We love how the scarecrow leaves his field and goes on a little adventure.

Class 12 would definitely recommended reading this book and have scored it 5/5 🙂

There’s a Viking in my Bed

After this, we are moving on to one of Jeremy Strong’s more famous books… ‘There’s a Viking in my Bed’. Class 12 are really looking forward to this because we know this author writes books that are funny and we think this one is definitely going to make us laugh!

We will let you know…

George’s Marvellous Medicine

During our daily reading at the end of each day, we are reading ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ by Roald Dahl. This is the funniest book we have read so far and our sides hurt from all the laughing. We think it is hilarious that George is experimenting with different things in the house. Do we think he will manage to get his grandma to grow through the roof of the house? We cannot stop laughing at the ingredients he is putting into his magic medicine. Warning….DO NOT try this at home!!

Class 12 highly recommend this book and have given it 5 out of 5 stars so far.

The Creakers

We have also looked at a book called ‘The Creakers’ by Tom Fletcher

This book is one of our Reading Spine Books and some of us are so excited to get stuck in! A member of Class 12 has read some of the other books written by this author and highly recommends reading his books 🙂

Did you know the author of this book was on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’??

Watch this space for other recommendations…

Mystery Tour

“We have really enjoyed reading this book and we enjoyed it that much I would like to read other books in this series. This book is fun to read and it made us laugh. In the story, it is a dark night and the skeletons go driving around to solve some mysteries”.  Jamie and Leland
